Catherine Ruze Africa Launches in Style.

HFC was invited to the launch of a new model agency last night called Catherine Ruze. The agency is run by Shamiso Catherine Ruzvidzo, a newcomer to Zimbabwes fashion industry.

The agent however is not new in the fashion industry as she also have another agency in Australia under the same name. Shamiso said she has been in the modeling industry since she was in her early teens. With an amazing experience like last night she has the world in her hands even though she has signed only a few girls in Zim so far.

Cape Town Fashion Council CEO, Bryan Ramkilawan (guest speaker) encouraged the local fashion community to be united and act in groups. He said that it is impossible for the industry to grow if people work as individuals. Ramkilawan had a private workshop with designers yesterday.

A couple of designers showcased their garments, the likes of Zuvva, Stonch Native, Chairo and Intisaarm.

The guests included HFC Chairman Beryl Kanyowa, ZFW Exec Director Pricilla Chigariro, editor of Jewel Tsitsi Mtendi, fashion designers, modeling agents and business delegates.

The Journey Has Begun.

It hurts me when i hear someone say "there isn't a fashion industry in Zimbabwe" even there is an element of truth in that statement.

However, it makes me wonder how first street is always filled with fashionable peeps walking down the road in a complicated fashion industry like ours. Its very disappointing to know that 80% of those clothes are not locally made and 50% of that is China made.

Myself coming with this idea of forming a fashion council is not because of just my passion for fashion. Its about the gap that i realized personally from a designer's perspective. The fashion industry chain is broken and i would like to take this as an opportunity to revive the industry. I vow to be a fashion ambassador for Zimbabwe.

Now the journey to create a fashion industry for Zim starts here. Its impossible for me to do it alone, it takes you and me to succeed in this. The vision is to become an internationally recognized fashion community. Harare, Zimbabwe LET'S DO THIS!
